Corin -

I just want to let you know that I just love how we are turning Gabe's Gift Bags in to this WONDERFUL awareness idea!!

I was able to pruchase a lot of things for you very cheap.

I really encourage members (if you can) to participate in this.

I was able to buy baby blankets from my local craft store for one dollar!! I also got small teddy bears for 70 cents! Books I has lying around the house that did not have any use, are packed up and ready to go to parents who need them! Avon sells chapstick and lotion for one dollar, too!

Remember back to when you were in the NICU, think of some things you could have used and get them to Corin!! It would be such a great help. Head down to a local dollar store and do some shoppin'!

Corin - what else are you needing right now?

This is indeed a WONDERFUL Awareness Idea Corin.
Please let me know also what I can send you.

Corin,
I would also LOVE to help you... Let me know what you need and where to send it.

I love the chap stick! If there is one thing we all did for our children when they were in the hospital it was putting on chap stick for them (sometimes this is all we could do)... it makes me want to cry just thinking about it.

Thank you Kate for bring this up again! It's been going great! I have had quite a few wonderful people sending me blankets, keepsake items, and a few sponsors! THANK YOU ALL!!!! I am really hoping to start sending these out nationally by the end of the summer!!! BUT I definitely need some more help!

Each bag costs about $20 to put together and $7-$10 to send out. We are getting 1-2 new expecting members a week, and I would really like to get them out to EVERY new expecting member we have!

If anyone is interested in sponsoring a bag: for $20 you can sponsor a gift bag in honor/in memory of you cherub. I will include your cherubs story and picture in the bag you sponsored.

If you would like to send items to put in the bags we would appreciate that also! Things we like to include:

Baby blankets-knit, crochet, quilted, etc.... (Please just make sure that they are baby friendly materials)
Journals
Pens
Disposable Cameras
Tote Bags
Chapsticks
mini lotion bottles
mini hand sanitizers
children's books
puzzle books (sudoku, word search, etc...)
Booties
Caps
Eye Covers
Gift Cards (McDonalds, Gas Cards, etc...)
hand/feet molds
picture frames
small stuffed animals
Lovies (those little blankets with the heads)
Birth Record Pillows

We accept anything that could be used by parents in the NICU, any small keepsakes or comfort items!

If anyone is interested please PM me or email me:
cnava@cherubs-cdh.org or Chefrinny@gmail.com

I thought of the gift bags when I was at a Mom2Mom sale today, but I wasn't sure about used items. You like to have all of it new correct?!

I will keep an eye out for things on clearance.

Corin, that's amazing! If I had received something like that I would have been over the moon...especially as a parent with no warning as our little man was diagnosed at birth. What a wonderful, thoughtful idea!

Hmmmm....good question Amy. I hadn't thought of that. I think it's probably best to stick to new since they will be used in the NICU.
