  1. Journey of a Non-Traditional Pregnancy

    September Update:

So the last time I wrote a blog post here, we were at 20 weeks and had just found out our 2nd son would also have CDH. Since we are now at 37 weeks and scheduled to have a c-section in a couple weeks, I think it’s time to play a little catch-up.

After finding out our son would have CDH, we rushed to have an amniocentesis and fetal MRI. The amnio would hopefully give us an indication of whether our son had any other chromosomal abnormalities (which ...
  2. Ethan and Pre-school 9/2/13

Ethan is doing great. After 2 1/2 weeks at preschool he came down with the croup. He woke up barking Friday morning. The doctor gave him antibiotics for a sinus infection and prednisone for the croup inflammation. They took an x-ray to make sure he didn't aspirate. He still has a big space under his right lung. He seemed better Saturday but is coughing more today and his nose is stuffy. He had a great therapy Thursday. He ate 12 baby spoons of apple sauce. It's not that much, but it's ...

  3. A Mothers Promise - Poem

When I heard id be a mother
    Those 5 years ago
It all seemed like a dream
Until my tummy it did grow

    I'd never held a baby
Or rocked a babe to sleep

    The promise i would keep.

    I'd keep my baby warm
And soothe her when she'd cry
    Id tell her everyday
she was my wish from in the sky.

    When you become a parent
No one does tell you how
    But for that ...

  4. An Introduction

    Hi there,
My name is Samantha. I am 28 years old and have two daughters; Leyla (age 5) and Ivy (19 months). We are currently expecting our son, Jackson, who was diagnosed with CDH at 21 weeks gestation. Our due date is December 16, 2013.
Admittedly, my spouse and I had no knowledge of CDH prior to being diagnosed. I am still trying to digest the reality of it all.
The past month has being filled with every emotion you can think of; notably fear, helplessness and denial, and ...
  5. 8/17/13 1st week of Pre-k

Ethan's first week of pre-k went great. Ethan was nervous on the first day and even cried a little Tuesday morning. But by the end of the week; all he could talk about was going on the playground. Thursday and Friday it rained cats and dogs (it is continuing today) and they didn't get to go on the playground. Ethan was disappointed about that but had a great week anyway. He even drank a cup of whole milk one day. Yay, Ethan. He just had to have a straw and his teacher was kind enough to ...
