My name is Jode, I am married to a wonderful man named Mike. He is my best friend.
Last August 2007 we found we were pregnant with our first child. As you can imagine we were very excited, scared, elated.
Things seemed to be going well until Christmas eve. We were in a bad car accident. The firefighters had to cut me out with the jaws of life. Oh what a horrific sound that made. They took me to the ER and ran many tests. Everything came out normal.
February 2nd we had an appt. for a sonogram. We were going to wait to find out what the sex was of our child. We wanted it to be a surprise. Our doctor found something unusual.
February 9 we had an appt. for an MRI. After taking about 100 different pictures we met with the doctor specializing in this area, she told us our baby was very sick. She said her lung volume was low, her heart was enlarged, her stomach was in the wrong place. There is more she told us but I stopped listening. It all felt like a bad dream.
That same day we met with my Obgyn. We had the pictures of the baby. We decided to enduce the baby the following week.
Valentine's day 2007 we went to the hospital.
February 16 at 5:15 AM we had a little girl. She was 23 weeks along. She was not alive.
I was able to hold and rock her in a rocking chair. We took many pictures. My mom got to hold her as well. My husband Mike rocked her and talked to her.
Sunday, February 11, we went to the funeral home to make arrangements. Nobody should have to make these arrangements for their child.
We decided to have her cremated. She is on our chest of drawers. I put a light by her and turn the light on every night.
I miss her so much everyday.
Thanks to everyone for being there for us.
