<blockquote class="blogcontent restore">hi, i'm a father of a 11 year old CDH girl that had 1 hernia repaired 3 times by 6weeks from birth due to re-herniation x2, eventually repaired using porcine patch/tissue . just wondering if any of your members or their children who are/were CDH have encountered complications such as scoliosis, reduced lung function with her being affected badly by common colds, chest infections etc, and terribly small appetite as a result of CDH? in the last year we found out that she had scoliosis which the doctors tell us should not affect her ability to lead a normal life. then in the last 2 months, after a routine check up involving lung function test they found that her lung capacity had reduced (to 30% from 39%). they said that they are monitoring her lungs to see if they are growing with her body and that in the long term there maybe a transplant required if the 1 affected lung does not develop sufficiently. Elana is an otherwise normal child ie bright, relatively active in that he does majorettes and irish dancing and is hates missing school.</blockquote>
