Pediatrician Appointment

Rate this Entry
Dakota had a pediatrician appointment yesterday ... a short check up and to get her RSV Vaccine. The good news is that while she is still not on the growth chart, she is getting closer! Yay! We seemed to have gotten over that plateau we were at for 3 weeks! Her weight is still going up very, very slowly, but at least it is going up! She looked great and the doctor always expresses her happiness that Dakota is doing so well and has come so far (in her cute Polish accent =)). The bad news is that it looks like we might not be approved for any more RSV shots. The insurance company has requested a copy of the pediatrician's records, and she says while she will include a cover letter stating that she believes Dakota needs to vaccine through April, at least, her records show no illnesses or problems *knock on wood* so she is afraid they will not approve it. I am writing Dr. Kays today to try to get a letter from him. Dakota seems very healthy, but she is still underweight and other CDH kiddos who are healthy (Carter for example) have gotter CDH recently and the booster has helped them get over it without a hospital stay. The last thing I ever want is to see Dakota in the hospital again. So we will see. Her lungs look pretty good sized on her x-ray to me, so maybe she is medically normal now. It is hard to believe with her cdh, prematurity, ECMO, etc., but the idea of that makes me happy. I cannot be complacent though, I still have to be vigilant (this is a talk to myself) and continue to try to protect her and keep her that way!
