:) Overall I would say I am happy. I am so thankful for my beautiful family and am listening to them as I compose this message. I didn't get my first post up so here is a summary of Ethan's story. He was born at 31 weeks with a right sided cdh. He was on the vent for 6 weeks, then extubated to the high flow cannula, then the regular cannula. He came home at 90 days old. At 13 months in Dec. 2009, Ethan had a 2nd repair and stayed on the vent 3 weeks. He was extubated to his regular cannula and remains on it at 1/2 liter oxygen. He had a dystonic reaction to a medication he was on and had to go to rehab for 3 weeks. He couldn't hold his head up, roll over or even hold a toy. He didn't act like he recognized us; like he was looking through us. Today he is back to where he was before surgery and is in OT, speech, and PT therapy. He is working on walking and trying to overcome his oral aversions. He still uses the Mic-Key and is on Nutren Junior formula. Ethan had an ear infection on May 10. By May 17, it had not improved, so the doctor changed his antibiotic. He also gave him some steroids to keep the infection from spreading to his lungs. The medications upset his tummy. But he is acting better. He goes back to the doctor on 6/1. Today was kind of hard. My mother passed away 2 years ago today. I was 10 weeks pregnant with Ethan at the time. But I am so thankful for Ethan and my daughter and the rest of my family. I praise God for them everyday.
