HE IS HERE!!!! Yesterday, on December 1, 2011 Bryson Alexander was brought into this world at 8:52AM. Julie did amazing!

Julie's scheduled induction date was supposed to be Monday the 5th with her "final" appointment on Thursday the 1st. When she went in for her appointment the doctor noticed that since 4 weeks ago when Bryson weighed 4lbs 11oz he had not grown very much and at her u/s was measuring around 5lbs 3oz. This was a big concern for the doctor as well as her blood pressure was very high and wouldn't go down.

At 4:00PM, she was told that she was being admitted to Tampa General Hospital so that they could induce her. She didn't need any Pitocin and progressed naturally through the night. At 7:30 a.m she was given an epidural and at 8:00AM she was dilated to an 8. By 8:30AM she was dilated to a 10 and went into active labor. She pushed 3 times and Bryson entered the world.
Bryson came out crying but due to his CDH the nurses wanted to minimize the crying because the more air he inhaled it would go into his abdomen and immediately put an oxygen tube down his throat and IV's through his umbilical cord. Julie and Jason were able to hold him briefly right before they took him for a full examination.

About an hour after he was born we received an update that he was stable and on minimal oxygen. A surgeon on the team told us that they found out that there was additional complications. They saw that he has what is called TEF-EA where he is missing part of his esophagus and has a fistula blocking any part of the passageway for food and airway. This means that he needs additional surgery (possibly surgeries).

Last night the head surgeon came in and gave an update that the surgery (a 3 hours minimum surgery) was scheduled for 8AM this morning (Saturday the 3rd) and that the success of the surgery is all contingent on whether Bryson is strong enough to withstand the surgery.

Thankfully, Bryson had a good night and was taken into surgery a little before 9AM this morning. We are blessed with one of the best surgeons in the country and are praying for wisdom for him and the whole team that is with him. We are all just waiting patiently and praying to hear an update.

Julie is doing AMAZING! Thank you all for your continued prayers during this tough time. We will write updates as we can.
