December 5th Update

Bryson is holding his own and doing fair. The nurses say he's better than text book! He has already overcome so many hurdles but has many more hurdles ahead of him. With the surprised esophagus surgery, (TEF/EA) it looks like a 3 month minimum stay in NICU. He NEVER was on ECMO. PTL. He has help from a ventilator when he gets distressed, but most of the time he is breathing our oxygen level of #21 on his own. So many miracles already. Preliminary tests are all good. We won't know about his blood work for 2-3 weeks. That is regarding testing into his chromosomes layer by layer. He is stable and still very sedated. They do want him to wake up a little bit so they have decreased the amount of sedation however, they don't want him to move around enough to dislodge the tubes and work that the doctor did.

So for now, our immediate prayer requests are:
#1 - Thursday swallow/leak test. This is when they will put dye down his esophagus and make sure there is no leakage in the 2 parts they connected and no leakage in the stitches. #2 - If that test goes well they will do the diaphragm repair of Friday.
#3 - The blood work will all come back with a great report.
#4 - Then after he heals from the CDH surgery, that they can start him eating on his own. They say that is so crucial. The esophagus is so tender that it is excruciating for the babies to eat, so once they feel the pain from the milk, they stop eating. The reflux is over the top, as well. We need to pray for no pain and a normal working esophagus.

We are so grateful for the concert of prayer going out for him across the world. It's humbling and we can never thank you and everyone enough. The peace of the Holy Spirit has been amazing. It's something I've never experience personally myself. I just love my Jesus.

Julie is doing well. Been discharged and moving into the Ronald McDonald house tonight. It's heartbreaking to see her have to pump without being able to feed Bryson. It's so mechanical, but she is so determined to get him her milk..........and the hospital is an advocate of breastfeeding. They are keeping all her milk and numbering the bottles and we are all anxious for him to "guzzle" that, when the time comes. So anyway that’s where we are right now.
