Ethan's Eye Surgery

Rate this Entry
Ethan has been doing very well. He's wanting to stay outside since the warm weather is here. He's scraping his knees just like any little boy (or girl). He's going for his eye surgery Thursday; we are a little nervous but expecting things to go well. Christa is on her last month of kindergarten. She had field day today and rode a pony; very exciting for her. And they are going on a field trip Thursday to the strawberry patch where they will pick a basket of strawberries and have some strawberry ice cream. Her little graduation will be May 25. Looking forward to that. Ethan says he wants to go to school. In another year and a half he will start pre-school. I cannot believe it. He has finally learned his colors. He identified them all at therapy yesterday and has pointed them out around the house. That was very exciting. We are teaching him to write his name. It's progressing very slowly but it is wonderful to see him want to learn it. He is also counting to 10. Wow! I know. Will update again later. Praying for all the cherubs.

WOW!!! Way to go Ethan! He is so smart and love the progress he keeps making. I am proud of him! I have followed Ethan's journey since he was a baby and it is so neat to hear all of the good that is happening in his life. Praying for a successful surgery on Thursday. Let us know how it goes. Ethan's eye surgery went very well. He had some trouble keeping his O2 up after the surgery so we had to stay 2 1/2 hours after they finished but then he was ok. He's irritable but doing well. They said not to rub his eyes, get water in them or get dirt around them for two weeks. The ride home was good; he slept a lot of the way and he's been asleep for a little while this evening.

That is good the surgery went well! He is a strong boy, glad he was able to come home after surgery. That has to be tough to keep him from rubbing his eyes for two weeks. Hope he feels better today and you see improvement from the surgery with time. How long did they say it would take to know if the surgery worked?

Hey Tracy. Thanks for keeping up with all of us. It must be so time cosuming to stay on top of everything. I think his eyes look in the middle already. He goes back for a follow up on June 1. He's doing really great. The doctor just said that the majority of them work the first time but over time some kids eyes go back crossed and have to do it again. But for now he's doing great. His eyes are really red. They said that could last for a month or so. It takes a while for that blood to absorb sort of like a bruise. His eyes look bloodshot. I can't get a picture of it. He squints his eyes closed everytime the camera shoots. They're sensitive to light right now.
