(((HUGS)))....congratulations!!! Praying for a healthy baby and pregnancy for you. My best advice is to talk to your OB sooner and have them follow this baby more closely. Extra scans/ultrasounds and ask those questions during those scans. Have them point out the diaphragm and the location of the organs. It is very hard to not worry, even if you get the all clear healthy baby news, until you have that precious child in your arms and know everything is okay. If Bella's CDH was isolated, meaning it didn't happen with any other genetic abnormalities or syndromes, stats show a reoccurence of CDH to be 2%. There is a ton of research happening to try to figure out what causes CDH, but there just is no definite answers on whether it is genetic or not. CDH can occur with certain syndromes and genetic abnormalities. I would make sure you find an OB experienced in CDH and no what they are looking for you (I am not sure if Bella's was diagnosed before birth). Take care of you and that precious baby. There is nothing you did to cause Bella's CDH.

(((HUGS)))...keep us updated on the pregnancy....sending you tons of baby well wishes your way.

    Joanna,

    First of all: Congratulations!!!!!

This is very exciting, yet I know anxiety-provoking news. I second what Tracy said in that you should find an OB with experience with CDH and birth defects. I wish you all the best and a very healthy, joyful pregnancy! Please do keep the folks at CHERUBS posted on how you are doing! We are all thinking of you!

    Take Care and God Bless,

My daughter was born 2 yrs ago with undiagnosed LCDH and just gave birth to my son 4 wks ago. He was healthy and screamed bloody murder for a long time. It was so wonderful to hear him scream. I tried to stay positive and had an extra ultrasound at 33wks and a fetal echo done (my daughter had 2 VSDs with her CDH). Any, I did pretty well, a bit nervous on the days of the ultrasounds. I started to really get nervous towards the end of my pregnancy, but once I went into labor, it all went away. I was just so excited to see my new "little one." Try to stay positive. Take one day at a time, and enjoy each and every moment you have. Congratulations!!! I wish you health and happiness....
