Ethan is 4 years 9 months old has had a wonderful summer. We went to our family reunion over the 4th of July and he enjoyed playing with all the other kids. He even rode his big wheel by himself for the first time. We went to Panama City Beach this past week. He was scared of the water at first, but once he got in, you couldn't keep him out of it. He kept asking me to take him out in the water and float around with him. I did and we both enjoyed it so much. He just kept telling me he loved me while we were floating around. Ethan's therapy is going well. The last two weeks they have gotten him to eat a little bit. Last week he bit off a little bite of a Teddy Graham, chewed it up and swallowed it. It was hard for him; he gagged some but worked his way through it. This week he licked a few pieces of rice off a spoon and ate that; Thursday night we got him to try a little piece of a French fry. It's a very small amount, but such big progress for him. He still weighs about 40 pounds and has gotten so tall. He reaches his sister's chin and she is 7 years old (almost . The doctor wanted him to gain some weight so they increased his overnight feed to 60 mils an hour and we are trying to increase his bolus feeds during the day to 180 (right now his tolerating 160 mils). He still spits up and vomits if he gets a high volume at one time. The doctor wanted to him to starting drinking that PediaSure juice that has 120 calories in each juice box, but he does not like it at all. So we have been putting that in his tube. He loves chocolate milk and YooHoo boxes and most anything else to drink but he won't drink his formula. We have gotten him to drink sips of it but not enough to make any difference in his nutrition. He doesn't like the vitamin taste. We are a little nervous (more excited than nervous though. He starts Pre-k on Monday. He will be going half days. He still has trouble with his fine motor skills (holding a pencil, crayon, working with scissors) and hopefully being around the other kids will help him a lot. He doesn't want to do the finger paint, but I explained that he can wash his hands right when he is finished and he said ok. We'll see how it goes. Of course I will be taking lots of pictures. That's about all that's going on with Mr. Ethan right now. He has hit the question phase and asks me 101 questions every day. I get impatient sometimes but I know that is how he will learn. He wants to know: why is the sky blue?, why do we put clothes in the washing machine?, why do people go to Walmart?, Why do we cut the grass?, why do we cut our hair? and so many others. It's wonderful. It means he is thinking and wants to learn. Will post later how his pre-k is going.

Just a good update Lynn! Way to go Ethan on the eating! Just the tiniest of amounts is progress for him! Love to hear that he is trying.

So excited for him to be starting pre-k! Sure hope the environment helps him out a lot. He is growing up way too fast! I remember him just arriving into this world and coming up on your carepage. He is such a strong boy and I hope he does well with school and likes going. He is going to have fun!

Sounds like you have had a fun summer and Ethan has enjoyed it. Love to hear that he is in that question phase, so much fun! To see the world through his eyes is so neat.

Tell Ethan good look with school!!! Will be thinking of him and you!
