American Baby---tried to email and had NO response. But maybe someone else should try.
I do not homeschool the girls. We thought about it when Shelby came home and our docs said it would be fine to leave them in public school.
Do you homeschool?

Ok, now you have me on this kick again!!!
I'm going to start a new post......
I was trying to go to bed!!!HAHA
I did Jason in 6th grade. He's 16 now. He had problems w/ kids bulling him. He's a bit shy. You can look at his picture on my blog at msn. He's in the JrROTC now
www.bearersofgrace1019.spaces.live.com
He adjusted well.
So far :-)
Lise, absolutely beautiful family! I love the fishing profile fishing pictures. Oh my gosh, that's great!!!
Yea, I swear Jason has become so 'grounded' since emmie was born. Like he's not so self involved, as far as 16 yr olds go.
That was our one and only vacation this summer. We had planne don going to New England and saved up so much money to fly 5 kids there. My inlaws have a cottage on Cape Cod and we loved it when we lived there. Hyannis is so wonderful in the summer, a bit crowded but lovely.
But my fil got ( and cured) prostrate cancer and they sent us their time share for a week at a resort called Silverleaf in Texas. We had a blast. That's where I fired that rifle in my Avatar pic. I had blown on the butt of the gun thinking I looked like that chick from the Terminator but Jason yelled that my gun was loaded :-)
Thanks for the compliment. ~
( my daughter Victoria wants to be a missionary and pedi surgeon( to cure cdh !)
That part about wanting to be a missionary sent chills through me. I commend you as a parent. That is something that you should be very very proud of! It is so wonderful to see that there are good kids out there that do have a love for God.
Ok, Dawn, Chuck is going to burn me a copy of the DVD to send to you.
Regarding sending it to magazines and posting the video to the site, we are going to check with our church. Technically, they are the originator and producers of the DVD. I doubt it would be a problem, but I don't want to violate any copyright issues or what have you. Once I have an ok from them, Chuck will get more copies made for me to send and I'll give you permission to put it on the site.
Victoria is sweet at 14. I have always hated when parents say, watch out for those teen yrs...I just think if you are around for them they will be ok. Jason at 16 has had a few moments but overall is very nice and compassionate.
Victoria has said that she wants to be a pedi surgeron since Grace died in 00. Actually her 3 best friends all want to be doctors so they have agreed to go into practice together.
She is really committed to her love of God. She is really outgoing. Our chruch has local misison trips Nick went on one to Arkansas w/ the heifer Project and loved it. Even w/o electricity and he was the only boy!!!
Getting back to the DVD and answering your question, Lise. The church actually sent a film crew out to our house and while filming, Chuck and I talked and told our story. Then at the end they show a couple pictures of Adam.
I have one more for you dawn. It's Newsweek. You submit your story of you cdh baby, how he changed your life or whatever to
...It says, to submit your essay for the MY TURN column
www.myturn.Newsweek.com.
It's one of my favorite articles to read in such a 'heavy' magazine. There have been a few over the years about handicapped children and even infant death.
I have always said, Kara, and maybe you feel the same, that no matter what happens in our life( mark's and mine) we know this has 1st passed thru God's hands. It's all about Faith :-)
Also Dawn has, i think posted on here, a book( which I sent her) called The Room Of Marvels. I read it in 2 days. It's awesome. Amazon has used copies for 5$. It is by far the best book I have ever read! I think you would enjoy it also.
Is there any way a complete list of emails/address' can be posted somewhere so that we can get crackin' on writing our stories and sending them in? I would love to have them all in one place so I don't have to search for them when I'm writing. should our stories be complete or short? I know with the Oprah show I had to cut it way down and it didn't seem like I could say much at all. I hope other places aren't like that too! To date I've only sent my story to he TODAY show and Oprah...I'm ready to get started on the rest!
I know Oprah lost a child but at times when i see her talking to grieving families it's like it's the last thing she wants to deal with
About the list...that's a great idea.
I have sent stories to Today, American Baby, Baby Talk, Parents.
Here is the email address for baby talk, letters@babytalk.com.
Lise- you may be on to something...maybe oprah doesn't want to deal with child issues. Let's try other avenues.
Hey, Stephanie you and kara were talking about getting people to post somewhere and I can't find that thread. Where is it???
It is in the Indiana forum.
I tried to have a contest for Indiana members and Kara and I were the only ones writing in the forum.
But, I still have faith. They will come around.
Take a look and if you have any suggestions.....let me know.
I drove thru indiana once when I was in college. Does that count???
i'm kidding, but what i wanted to say about the posting ( to get more peple to post) how about a Q&A thread?
Like once a week ask a new question..funny, weird, anything,
What coffee do you drink?
What male actor is cute?( I like Matthew Ma-HUNK- a-hey):-)
Something like that...or you can do all indiana trivia
That sounds perfect.
I am going to ask what the state bird of Indiana is. Maybe I will even say who gets it first-wins the ribbon.
Thanks Lise.

Thanks Kristin.
Thank you, Kristin!!!!! :)
Got my letters out the other day to all the contacts I listed!
Here's the response I got from Woman's Day:
Dear Writer,
Thank you so very much for your interest in writing for Woman’s Day. Unfortunately, you are not alone. In fact, you have so much company, and we have such a small cadre of editors, that we have had to develop what you will no doubt find a rather tough policy on unsolicited manuscripts. This is what you need to know:
Our editors work almost exclusively with experienced writers who have clips from major national magazines. As a result, we accept unsolicited manuscripts only from writers with such credentials. There are no exceptions.
If you do have significant national writing experience, and you have an idea or manuscript that you think might interest us, e-mail us at www.womansday <http> @hfmus.com, including some of your most recent clips. Please note that we cannot guarantee that your submission will be read or commented on; it is by far most likely that we will get in touch with you only if we are interested in pursuing the idea you propose. Please note as well that we said e-mail; hard-copy submissions will not be considered.
If you do not yet have the national experience we outlined above, we look forward to hearing from you when you do. We also extend our regret that, should you nevertheless decide to send us a manuscript, we will not have the time to read, comment on or return it.
With all best wishes,
Woman’s Day Editors
So I guess they are out!!
Well that is a shame.
You would think that CDH awareness would be just up their alley.
It's so great you tried, so now we can move on to the others on the list.
I guarantee we will get it in a magazine!!!!Mark my words.
Let's not get discouraged!!!! We can accomplish great things working together.
Thanks for your support!
Well poopers doopers to Womens Day! I like that part about when you do have national writing credentials. What the heck!
Ok People I got my leter off to LJH. Who's next??
And Dawn...You mentioned Kara's video n a previous post
It was so easy to do the youtube video. If you give me something to write I can have, let's say Victoria say something about cherubs on youtube.
Do a Cherub's advocacy video and I can download it to youtube.
Like Victoria can say, "My baby sister was born w/ CDH. She died but my family is alive because of cherubs. the support research and advocacy we recived as a family ws honest straghtforward and helpful..."
Gimmie something to write and we can upload it to youtube....Just for you!!
:-)
Lise I think that rocks!!!!!
Please let us know when you get it on youtube. I can't wait to see it!!!!
Someone( dawn) needs to give me something to give Victoria to say. Like a verbatium thing. I did ask Victoria and she said she'd do it for you
I think it's a wonderful idea.
I tried the jar thing and everyone I visited shot me down...even my own husbands store!!!! Legal mumbo jumbo!
So this is my 2nd idea..
( i hope no other group steals this idea!) :-) because i'm gonna TM(trademark) it as mine
Again Lise- you are cracking me up. You go girl and TM it!!!
This will be so wonderful to see when Victoria does it.
LOVE that idea!!!!! If we can get families to talk for say 3 or 4 minutes each about their cherubs, we can put together an entire movie.
What to say... ok, let me work on that.
Just send it to my home email and Victoria can do it while she's off from school.
Make it as long as sweet, caring whatever...you and cherubs held me together...
I tired Oprah several times with no luck. I decided to write to Reader's Digest. The link is for writers but I told them my idea was for one of there writers. They really prefer stories by there staff writers.
Here's is the link. I said I was not alone and felt very confident they would hear from others. :-) I was very brief about my story, 1 small paragraph. I said the story could be health or inspirational but I put it under inspirational because each of our babies has inspired us in some way. I put in 2 paragraphs of information about CDH and the CHRUBS web site.

Hugs,
Alyx
Thanks Alyx
That's my goal today!
Hey Guys I just E-mailed the oprah show to maybe she can help get the word out.
Alyx-I am going to write Readers Digest today also. Thanks.
Dawn-love the idea of a movie. How will this all come together?
I am in for sure. I know my oldest girl, Lexi, would LOVE to do something for CHERUBS.
Please let us know what and how this will be done!!!! I'm excited about this one.
Great idea Alyx. I just wrote to reader's digest. I hope others will follow along and maybe we can get one of their writers to put something in the magazine.
I think anyone that is interested should write to readers digest this week.
Readers Digest should be our magazine for the week.
The more we sent to them, the more they will get interested in our cause.
