Ok, now I see what you mean. Yes, cafepress discontinues items and replaces them from time to time - makes my job a royal pain to go in there and figure out what they've done and remove categories. Then they bring it back and I have to add it all again.

We're reorganizing the entire store soon so this shouldn't be an issue after that. Until then, I'm sorry for the inconvenience every one.

Is ther anyway for Cherubs to come up with an awareness ribbon for
CDH? (Ex. breast cancer awareness that is pink) Just an idea!!
Something that I would be interested in and I know I could also
get family to wear it.

I would love to see an awareness ribbon also. One of those magnetic things for cars. I thought of getting the license plate cover, but for some reason I would feel odd having something that says "Proud parent of a CHERUB". To me that implies my child is living, and he's not. Does anyone else feel this way, or is it just me? I'd rather have something with maybe our web address on it. Who knows, maybe someone will be curious enough to look us up.

The whole fact that most people have never heard of CDH really bothers me. Our local paper is doing a week-long series of articles on another birth defect which affects 1 in 26,000 people, and it's one we ALL know about. CDH's ratio is way higher, yet few people know of it. Very frustrating! If there's more awareness, there's better chance of raising funds for research.

We talked about a ribbon several years ago but every color is taken. It would seem rude to use the same color as another organization, almost like stealing their color/idea. Every color was already claimed 2 or 3 years ago when we talked about it on the lists. So many organizations are using the same colors already it's kind of lost significance. A lot of parents have worn angel and cherub pins to raise CDH awareness. I don't know, maybe if we did a ribbon and a cherub pin together? Any suggestions?

I'm all for raising CDH awareness any way that we can! But it has to be original and something that sticks out from all the other stuff that every other support group is doing. So many organizations do the same ole tired stuff that no one really notices anymore. For example of something different, a little wacky, but that would get noticed - have family members wear wings on your cherub's birthday and/or memorial day. Big feather ones, cardboard and aluminum foil ones, ones printed on the back of a t-shirt... anything. Get your child's classroom in on it, the whole neighborhood, etc. Have the kids dress as cherubs for Halloween and collect donations along with candy or dress as cherubs for Christmas and go caroling. Hmmm... maybe I'll convince my nieces and nephews to that this year.

We do have the bumper stickers and other stuff. I was using it and wearing it when my cherub was still alive and now that he's gone too, but I understand maybe it makes some parents uncomfortable. What if we worded it differently? Like "My Child Is A Cherub"?

I was hoping the packet parties idea would catch on. Members gather family and friends and print and put together information packets for hospitals to give new and expectant CDH parents. Get local printers and supply stores to donate, hold a 2 or 3 hour party to put the packets together and invite the local newspaper to cover it. Win win situation all around - for the family and friends, CDH in the media to raise more awareness, and the hospitals get information!

Plus the "Adopt A Cherub" logo idea for web sites - if we cover the internet with our cherub characters we can reach a lot of people! And lots of other ideas on our How You Can Help section.
