I am one of 11 children. My oldest brother passed away from CDH in 1973. I married my husband and together we have 10 children (6 from his previous marriage). My youngest son, Anderson, was born with L-CDH on 9/21/12, which was discovered just 8 days prior to his birth. While he never needed to go on ECMO, he was very critical the night he was born and was on stand-by with another hospital to put him on ECMO. He is a little fighter! At 3 1/2 days, he underwent his diaphragmatic hernia surgery repair via scope. The surgeon moved his intestines, spleen, stomach and part of a kidney back into place. He was only intubated for 9 days. He spent 28 days in the NICU.
